Suddenly, I found myself hesitating to speak with native Chinese speakers, embarrassed by the mistakes I believed I was making. I felt ashamed when strangers asked how long I had been learning Mandarin, realizing my abilities did not match the time I had invested. I was stuck in a cycle of declining confidence and maintaining a facade of proficiency. This had to stop.

And it did. I broke out of this cycle and revitalized my Mandarin abilities, transforming them into what they are today.
